Pros and cons of Chinese Writer app for iPhone and iPad

Chinese Writer app good for

I enjoy this little app more and more - almost like a game. After a clear and straightforward tutorial on stroke order (which you can skip) the app displays random characters for you to write on screen. It judges your strokes, and makes you repeat bad strokes. Good for training the hand, and for seeing relationships between characters. I like using a stylus with it to feel more like pen (or brush) and paper.
Love this app. It has a good variety of characters and enforces correct stroke order.
I think this app is amazing!!:) I dont to hear about not liking it

Some bad moments

This app is okay for being free. The tutorial doesnt give you any flexibility on what to study. The writing practice cant compare to the writing apps of Panda Words, which are the best of any Ive seen. However, this app has some interesting features in that it completes your stroke in a more correct manner than you are writing it. The whole interface is very inflexible. You are forced to complete a character before you can see another. The user should have a list for choosing what to practice, and then it would be perfectly acceptable to have another button that chooses characters randomly for practice. But there needs to be an option for the user to choose for a tutorial and also for practice.
There are tons of "Learn Mandarin today!" apps out there but few of them have the serious student in mind. Take this app for example. The serious student of Chinese is concerned about whether or not he/she is retaining the characters he/she is learning. Where is an app that tests you on this. This app provides you with the very character it is asking you to write which means it is testing you only on the stroke order - not recognition or memorization. Any student who knows 100+ characters already has the stroke order down. Where is the use in this. It would be nice if the app prompted you with the pinyin and the English meaning and had you write the character from memory - or gave you the character and asked for the pinyin. If there was a full version at a reasonable price that included these very features and was responsive to your Chinese level, I would buy it. As is, this app is useless to anyone who knows more than 50 characters. Can anyone direct me to an app that does what I described?
This was an excellent app for studying stroke order. However, it stopped working a few years ago. Now it crashes on launch. There have been no updates in four years.
